The Ultimate Greenhouse Guide in Stardew Valley
The Greenhouse is one of the most powerful upgrades in Stardew Valley, allowing you to grow crops from any season — all year long. Whether you're a seasoned farmer or just starting out, this guide will show you everything you need to know about unlocking, optimizing, and profiting from your Greenhouse.
How to Unlock the Greenhouse

At the start of the game, the Greenhouse appears as a ruined building on your farm. To restore it, you have two options:
1. Complete Pantry Bundles (Community Center Path)
- Complete all six Pantry bundles inside the Community Center.
- Once done, the Junimos will magically repair your Greenhouse overnight.
2. Purchase via Joja Mart (Corporate Path)
- Join JojaMart and pay 35,000g through the Joja Community Development Form.
- The Joja crew will rebuild the Greenhouse the next day.
Greenhouse Size and Basic Features

What Can You Grow?

🍎 Fruit Trees
- Can be planted along the edges (outside the main soil area)
- Must be 2 spaces apart, each in a 3x3 square with no obstructions
- Max of 18 fruit trees around the border
- Can be planted year-round inside the Greenhouse

🌳 Regular Trees
- Oak, Maple, and Pine can also grow inside
- Not recommended for tapping, as outdoor trees are more accessible
✨ Crops
You can grow any crop regardless of its season:
- Multi-harvest crops: Grapes, Hops, Coffee Beans
- High-profit crops: Ancient Fruit, Starfruit, Sweet Gem Berries
- Animal feed crops: Wheat (for Winter), Corn
Note: Giant Crops do not grow in the Greenhouse.
🛠️ Extra Items Inside
You can place:
- Chests (for seeds & fertilizer)
- Seed Makers (especially for Ancient Fruit)
- Artisan Equipment (Kegs, Preserves Jars)
- Mini-Shipping Bin
- Decorations (paths, signs, lights)
Bee Houses & Casks don’t work inside the Greenhouse.
Best Sprinkler Layouts

Sprinklers don’t cover the 10x12 area perfectly, but there are great setups:
Sprinkler Setup | Total Plants |
---|---|
16 Quality Sprinklers (12 tiles each) | 108 |
6 Iridium Sprinklers (24 tiles each) | 116 |
4 Iridium + Pressure Nozzles | 118 |
5 Iridium + Pressure Nozzles (tight layout) | 119 |
Use Pressure Nozzles for maximum coverage with minimal sprinkler clutter.
